Primary Care and Chiropractic Clinic Simplifies Patient Experience With New Payment Options

Pro-Care Medical Centers, with six clinics in the Greater Austin and San Antonio areas, today announced that Bitcoin will be accepted for patient payments at each clinic. Pro-Care Medical Centers is the first healthcare practice in Texas to adopt the Bitcoin cryptocurrency for patient transactions.

“Accepting the popular cryptocurrency is part an ongoing initiative to transform the patient experience,” said Brent Boecking, CEO of Pro-Care. “Being an independent practice based in Austin, Texas means we have to test and adapt to meet the digital demands of our patient base. We know our patients are techies and early adopters and we strive to be on the forefront ourselves.”

After running a successful pilot program at Pro-Care’s Central Austin location, Pro-Care is rolling out its Bitcoin payment processing at clinics in South Austin, Cedar Park and San Antonio. Primary care and chiropractic patients will be able to use Bitcoin to pay co-pays, deductibles or for cash-pay services, including annual physicals, chiropractic adjustments, common illness treatments, labs and X-rays.

“This past year, we have rolled out several programs to better connect and deliver quality healthcare with patients. We know folks are busy. We strive to meet them where they are and provide the utmost convenient care possible,” Boecking said. “Patients can book appointments online on our website, chat online with our front desk team, text us and more. Accepting Bitcoin may not represent a large percentage of payments, but it’s certainly a trend that’s not going away anytime soon.”

According to coinmap.org, there are only a handful of medical practices and doctors around the globe currently accepting Bitcoin. Pro-Care Medical Center is the only one listed in Texas.
